UW-L never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 14-4 lead early in the first half. UW-Eau Claire came back to cut the lead to 17-14 with 6:14 remaining before UW-L eventually took a 29-23 halftime lead.
The Eagles led by as many as 13 in the second half, including 43-30 with 13:51 remaining. The Blugolds cut the lead to 54-49 with 4:32 left, but could get no closer the rest of the game. UW-L hit 11-of-12 free throws in the final 5:18, including eight straight in the last :46 of the game.
Joe Werner (24 points) and Marcus Conigliaro (career-high 22 points) combined for 46 points for UW-L. Werner was 10-of-14 from the field while Conigliaro finished eight-of-nine, including four-of-five from three-point range.
Chris Ask recorded his first career double-double for the Eagles with 10 points and a career-high 10 assists.
UW-L shot 53.1% from the field, including 53.8% (14-of-26) in the second half. The team was four-of-11 (36.4%) from three-point range in the game. The Eagles were 17-of-20 (85.0%) at the free throw line.
Jared Bardon led UW-Eau Claire with 16 points while Dan Beyer and Zack Ryan each had 10 points.
