Lawrence 79, St. Norbert 68

DE PERE, Wis. — St. Norbert College ended a three-game homestead falling to Lawrence University 79-68 at Schuldes Sports Center. The Vikings, ranked No. 5 in the latest D3hoops.com poll, improved to 14-0 overall and 8-0 in Midwest Conference play, while St. Norbert fell to 3-11, 1-6. With the win, Lawrence remains the only unbeaten men’s team in NCAA Division III.


St. Norbert managed to get within 59-54 with 10:15 remaining and within 70-65 with 1:04 left but would get no closer, with LU going on a 9-3 run in the final minute of the contest.


Although the home team started the second half strong, the Green Knights couldn’t seem to stop Lawrence’s offense from the start, as the visitors kept St. Norbert trailing the entire game. The Vikings shot 62.2 percent from the floor for the game, connecting on 23 of 37 field goals. Lawrence also held a 29-20 rebound advantage in the contest.


Kyle MacGillis led the Vikings with 16 points, while Ben Rosenblatt and Chris Braier each added 13 points. St. Norbert, which shot 48 percent from the field, was led by Ryan Lallensack’s 16 points. John Suberlak added 14 points and Eric Bieniasz contributed 12 points for the Green Knights.
