The Mules held Washington to 23% shooting in the first half, and maintained a 33-20 advantage at the break. Muhlenberg started the second half with a 13-2 run, closing the door on any hopes of a Shoreman rally.
Jeff Stewart led Muhlenberg with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocked shots. Stewart shot 10-of-14 from the field in the game. Tom Scott registered 15 points, while Jimmy O’Brien had 13 points and a game-high six assists. Chris Huber also added 10 points for the Mules in the victory.
Senior guard Kyle Stem led the Shoremen with 13 points and four assists in the loss. Senior guard Dustin Abbate finished with nine points, while senior forward Jonathan Webb grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Washington.
The Mules shot 54% from the floor, while Washington shot 33%. Muhlenberg also held a 41-34 advantage in rebounds.
Muhlenberg is now 18-1 all-time against Washington on the Mules' home court. The Shoremen have not won in Allentown since November 18, 1989, when they defeated the Mules, 83-73, in the championship game of the Scotty Wood Tournament.
The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Swarthmore.
