Wesley 70, Misericordia 59

DALLAS, Pa. — Wesley College (8-7, 6-2) won its fifth consecutive game, defeating College Misericordia (4-12, 4-5) by a final score of 70-59, in men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines were led by the backcourt of Rashawn Johnson (FR, Selbyville, DE/Sussex Tech) and Mike Wright (FR, Dover, DE/Dover), posting 19 and 14 points respectively. Johnson added 5 assists and Wright had 6 rebounds and 3 steals in the win. Alphonzo Wright (FR, Dover, DE/Polytech) and Nick Minor (SR, Gambrills, MD/Arundel) both had 9 points, with Wright adding 7 rebounds.

Wesley went into halftime with a 29-25 advantage after shooting only 25.6% (10-of-39) from the field in the first half, while the Cougars came out with 44.4% (8-of-18) mark. The Wolverines were able to force 10 Cougar turnovers, which helped to the 4-point advantage at the half. Wesley raised its lead to 8 (41-33) with 13:49 left in the second half on a 3-point basket by Johnson. Misericordia was able to cut the deficit to 5 (42-37) with 11:07 remaining off a basket by Corey Brown (SR, Bronx, NY/James Island), but Wesley answered back with a 16-5 run to go up 58-42 with 4:30 left in the game. The Cougars would get no closer than 8 points the rest of the way, as Minor was 7-of-8 for Wesley from the charity stripe in the final 1:59.

The Wolverines shot 20-of-62 (32.3%) from the field and committed 16 turnovers in the game, while also out-rebounding Misericordia 52-37.
