The Big Blue had a one point lead with 21 seconds left after back-to-back drives to the basket by Drew Gensler. But Carthage drove the length of the court and Mark Morrison rebounded his own miss and put it back for the winning basket. Millikin falls to 7-7, 2-4 while Carthage improves to 5-11 and picked up its first CCIW win of the year (1-4).
Gensler lead Millikin's offense with 17 points and Lance Brooks followed with 15. For Carthage, Keena Johnson scored 13 followed by 12 from Kyle Jeffery and 10 by Morrison.
Korte long finished with a game-high eight rebounds for Millikin while Morrison led the way for the Red Men with seven.
Millikin shot 45.3 percent from the field, 30 from 3-point and 62.5 from the free throw line. On the other end, Carthage shot 39.3 percent from the field, 16.7 from 3-point and 64.7 from the free throw line.
Carthage picked up 10 steals as the Big Blue turned the ball over 15 times. Carthage committed only seven turnovers, four turned into Millikin steals.
