The Scots broke the game wide open shooting 60% (9-15) from beyond the arc and over 56% from the field (21-37) in the first half. MC’s stingy defense allowed the Monarchs to shoot only 34% from the field en-route to a 30-point halftime advantage (54-24).
Maryville had another torrid attack from the perimeter in the second half shooting 50% (5-10). Methodist had a tough time bridging the gap following their 32% shooting effort and 24 team turnovers.
The Monarchs (4-11) were paced by the 19-point effort of Fred McDonald.
Maryville (15-3) saw a great performance from Bobby Golden in the paint. Bobby hit on 12-16 shot attempts, including two 3-pointers, for a 28-point afternoon. Monte Calloway was 4-6 from 3-point land and 6-12 from the field for a 16-point effort. Andy Chaney and Bradley Blair added double digit scoring to the Scots attack with 15 and 10 points respectively.
The Fighting Scots will return to action on Wednesday January 25th. MC will host the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe University. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in the Boydson Baird Gymnasium.
