The Bombers (7-6, 4-0 Empire 8) used a 16-2 run over the first five minutes of the second half to take a 34-18 lead. They led by a score of 20-16 at the half.
Senior guard Jim Bellis led the way for Ithaca with 21 points on nine of 14 shooting. Freshman guard Sean Burton finished with 11 points and freshman forward Brendan Rogers contributed 10 points, four rebounds.
The Hawks (6-9, 0-4 Empire 8) tried to stage a late comeback led by freshman guard A.J. Beaulieu. Beaulieu made a layup with 7:11 remaining in the contest to cut the lead to 12 points, the closest Hartwick would get.
Senior guard Tim Kindlon led both teams with four three pointers and finished with 12 points for the Hawks.
Hartwick plays host to Elmira College for an Empire 8 Conference game at 4 p.m. Saturday.
