The Beavers shot well from the field throughout the contest, including a 48 percent clip in the first half that gave the visitors a 28-24 lead at the break. Lasell (8-7) then came storming back in the second half, building a 43-38 lead with nine minutes remaining in the game. However, Babson refused to let the contest slip away, as first-year Pat Belniak scored six straight points - including four off his own defensive steals - as part of a run that gave the Beavers a commanding 68-58 advantage. Babson then iced the win with solid free throw shooting in the closing minutes.
Belniak led all players with 24 points, hitting 9-of-12 from the fiield. First-year Zach Etten also had a big game for the Beavers, recording 15 points and eight rebounds while sinking all 11 of his free throw attempts. Sophomore Greg Bush contributed 11 points and sophomore David Votta posted four steals for Babson, which shot 48.9 percent from the floor, 75.0 percent (24-32) from the line, and committed just 10 turnovers to Lasell's 18.
