Colby-Sawyer 80, New England College 50

NEW LONDON, N.H. — Colby-Sawyer held New England College without a field goal for the last 7:31 of the first half, breaking a five-point lead into a 16-point halftime margin and eased to an 80-50 win in a Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball game on Thursday night in New London.

The Pilgrims (7-6, 2-2 CCC) were limited to just two free throws, one by Andrew Tremble and one by Bobby Montrod as Colby-Sawyer turned a 27-22 game into a 41-25 halftime lead. Andrew St. Clair scored 16 of his game-high 27 points in that first period to lead the Chargers (6-8, 4-2 CCC).

St. Clair hit 12-of-14 from the field on the night, adding in three free throws and eight rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. Collin Bray chipped in with 13 points of his own on 6-of-7 shooting from the field.

Montrond led New England College with 11 points off the bench, while Kingsley Onyechi added 10 points on the night.

Colby-Sawyer returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Salve Regina for a 3 p.m. contest. New England College hosts Wentworth the same day.
