Gordon used a 19-4 run over the final eight minutes of the opening stanza to open up a 42-21 lead at the break. The Mustangs cut the deficit to 17 points (50-33) following a jumper by senior captain Matt McGaughran (Taunton, Mass./Coyle & Cassidy) with 12:37 remaining in regulation, but it was not enough, as the visitors pulled away down the stretch to secure the 27-point victory.
Junior Michael Herr (Lampeter, Pa.) grabbed a game-best nine boards to go with 14 points, three assists and a pair of steals for Gordon. The Fighting Scots also received solid production from senior Aaron Vogelzang (Jericho, Vt.), who made all six of his shots from the field en route to a 13-point night.
McGaughran paced the Mustangs with team-highs of 15 points, four steals and two helpers. Senior Scott Chamberlain (Millis, Mass./Millis) was next with nine points and five rebounds, while freshman Otis Thompson (Gardner, Mass./Gardner) rounded things out with a nine-board outing.
Mount Ida (3-12, 2-4 NAC) returns to action on Saturday, when it visits Mitchell College for a non-conference game beginning at 3:00 p.m. Gordon (10-3, 4-1 CCC) will also take the court again on Saturday
