New York City Tech 89, Medgar Evers 88BROOKLYN, NY — MEN BEAT MEDGAR EVERS AT THE BUZZER • The Yellow Jackets ended a season-long seven game losing streak in dramatic fashion, beating CUNYAC South Division rival Medgar Evers, 89-88 on a three-pointer by freshman guard Jamaal Hall (game-highs of 24 points, 6 assists) as the final horn sounded. It was a back-and-forth game between two evenly matched schools that featured 12 ties, including a 41-41 knot at the intermission. City Tech forged ahead by as many as ten points in the second half (65-55), but the feisty Cougars (5-11, 2-5 CUNY) went on a very late 11-2 run that tied the game at 82-82. MEC got their only lead of the second period on a jumper and a free throw in the final thirty seconds (89-86), but senior guard Clyde Forteau (15 points) and junior forward Otis Saylee (22 points, 10 rebounds) showed veteran savvy. The two teams will have a rematch here next Saturday!
