Huntingdon 57, Piedmont 53

Montgomery, AL — The Piedmont College men's basketball team was forced into its poorest shooting performance of the season this evening in a 57-53 Great South Athletic Conference road loss at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. The host Hawks held the Lions to 27% from the field including 15% from behind the three-point line.

Both teams came out of the gate a little slow with Piedmont holding the hosts scoreless through the game's first 6:30. With the score tied at eight midway through the first half, Huntingdon mounted a 13-1 run to take a 26-19 adavantage into intermission.

In the second half, HC jumped out early with a quick 17-5 run to take a 43-24 advantage before the Lions began their furious rally. Piedmont was able to cut the lead to two points with :30 seconds remaining and missed a three-point attempt in the final seconds that would have tied the game.

Despite the season-low field goal percentages, Piedmont was able to pressure the Hawks into 23 turnovers while outrebounding the hosts by 10 and taking 19 more field goal attempts (64-45).

Piedmont did not have a player reach double-figures in scoring and were led by Mike Adams team-highs of nine points and seven rebounds.

The loss drops Piedmont to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in GSAC action on the season with the Lions returning to action on Saturday afternoon with a Great South Athletic Conference contest with visiting Fisk University with tip-off set for 4:00 in PC's Johnny Mize Athletic Center.
