Wesley 68, Gwynedd-Mercy 65

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA — A valiant second-half push came up short as Wesley defeated Gwynedd-Mercy, 68-65, in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game Wednesday evening at the Griffin Complex.

Junior Chris DelBrocco scored a team-high 20 points and sophomore Kevin Lauer notched his second double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Griffins (5-10, 3-5 PAC) trailed by eight points with 2:26 to go before a key three-pointer from senior Francis Bowe and a driving layup by junior Frank Barder pulled Gwynedd within 67-65 with under 30 seconds remaining.

Wesley (6-8, 5-2 PAC) had a chance to ice the game after Daniel Henry was fouled on the ensuing possession, but he could only hit one of two attempts from the line. With just 11 ticks on the clock, GM drove the length of the court but a last-chance three-pointer was no good.

Rashawn Johnson was one of three Wolverines in double figures, netting a game-high 23 points. Tyrell Brown added 10 points and six boards while Cody White chipped in 11 points and eight caroms for Wesley, who won their fourth straight.

Bowe grabbed a career-best 12 rebounds to go along with nine points. The Griffins shot 39% (27-of-68) for the game but only hit 5-of-13 attempts from the charity stripe. Wesley hit 34% (22-of-64) of its shots and held a 46-44 rebound edge.
