Simpson 90, Dubuque 65

Dubuque, Iowa — A school record seven players scored in double figures as Simpson (13-3, 7-0 IIAC) defeated Dubuque (7-9, 1-6 IIAC) 90-65 in Iowa Conference women's basketball action Jan. 18 in Dubuque. The previous school record was six which happened on two previous occasions, most recently in the 2002-03 season. Leading the way for the Storm was point guard Dana Johnson who shot 8-for-9 from the field to score a game high 16 points. Johnson also added seven steals. Carlie Beals scored 12 with Whitney Franker posting 11. Ashley Katch, Heather Kay, Sarah Pearson, and Katelyn Whiton each scored 10. Katch had seven rebounds and blocked three shots.

The Storm led 35-33 at halftime and were up 43-37 with just over 17 minutes to go, but Simpson outscored the Spartans 12-0 over the next five minutes and never looked back. Simpson shot 23-for-34 in the second half (67.6%) and outscored the Spartans 55-32 in the closing frame. The Storm forced 29 Dubuque turnovers and made 18 steals. Jenica Kester led Dubuque 17 points. Courtney Messner had 11 points and seven assists.
