Abandoning the outside game in the opening stages of the second half propelled Western New England to a convincing 82-50 win over Daniel Webster. In the first half the Golden Bears overcame a gritty inside performance by the Eagles to gain a 28-21 edge as the teams battled through six lead changes and three ties. The Bears relied on outside shooting and only shot 32 percent from the floor, but changed that tactic in the second half scoring eight consecutive lay-ups on DWC turnovers. The strength of the Golden Bears prevailed in second stanza as they maintained a 17 point bulge as the pesky Eagles kept pecking away at the lead. The Golden Bears gained their fourth GNAC win and sixth overall. Sophomore Ryan Hernandez led a foursome of Golden Bears in double figures with 17 points making five of 11 three-pointers. Following Hernandez in order were senior Jon Godbout (16), senior Jason Cardinal (13) and junior Deon Thomas (12). For the Eagles sophomore Neal Foley once again was the team leader with 16 points with Kenny Ouellette tossing in 11. No other Eagle finished in double figures with senior Chris Fox leading a pack eight Eagles with nine points. The Eagles are at Suffolk University Saturday.
