Endicott 60, University of New England 42

BIDDEFORD, Maine — Endicott College went on a 14-0 run over a six-minute span in the second half to open up a close contest on its way to a 60-42 victory over the University of New England on Thursday evening at the Campus Center.

With their third consecutive victory, the Gulls improve to 6-6 overall and a perfect 4-0 mark in Commonwealth Coast Conference play. The Nor'easters lost for the fourth straight outing to dip to 4-9 (0-5 CCC).

Leading 38-36 with just under 10 minutes remaining, the Gulls reeled off 14 unanswered points--five by Todd Burton '08 (Lynn, Mass.)--to assume a 52-36 advantage at the 3:39 mark. Matt George '06 (Dover, N.H.) capped the run with a layup for the 1,000th point of his career.

Burton was 5-for-7 from the floor and finished with 13 points as the lone Endicott player in double figures. Nemanja Marinkovic '07 (Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro) played a strong floor game, contributing nine points, 11 rebounds and three steals.

The Gulls shot 51.1 percent (23 of 45) from the floor and 76.9 percent from the free throw line (10 of 13).

UNE co-captain Matt McManus '06 (Cumberland, R.I.) scored a team-high 13 points, including three 3-pointers.

Endicott will be looking for its fourth straight win Thursday when it travels to Boston to take on Wentworth Institute of Technology. The Nor'easters host Anna Maria College at 8:00 p.m. that same evening.
