Worcester State jumped out to a 9 point lead at the half as they were able to control the paint as they outscored the Rams 26-10 inside the lane. Sophomore guard Will Spont led the way with 10 first half points on 4 of 4 shooting from the field, while junior Winfrend Rembert controlled the glass with 10 rebounds to go along with 7 first half points. Senior forward Ralph Frazier chipped in 9 first half points.
In the second half the Lancers extended their lead to as many as 23 points with just over 13 minutes left in the game. The Rams applied full court pressure and forced the Lancers to commit 13 second half turnovers, but were only able to pull as close as 14 points with just under a minute to play.
Frazier finished with a game high 19 points on 8 of 14 shooting and 7 rebounds for the Lancers, while Spont finished with 18 points as he shot 100% from the floor (8 of 8). Rembert finished with a double double, 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite struggling from the field junior Derek Wigman finished with 14 points and sophomore Michael Costa finished with a team high 17 points. Senior Joe Faradie had a good day on the boards as he led the Rams with 12 rebounds.
The Rams return to action on Saturday as they travel to conference foe Salem State for a 4:00pm game, while the Lancers travel to MCLA for a 4pm game on Saturday.
