The Tommies improved to 5-0 in MIAC road games and maintained their 2 1-2-game lead in the conference race. Second-place Carleton, St. John's and Gustavus all won Monday to move to 6-3.
The Cobbers (5-8, 4-5) got 49 of their 63 points from three players, led by Luke Linz' game-high 20 points. Luke Miller had 14 points and eight rebounds and Brock Citterman had 15 points off the bench. Concordia, which has had to play most of the season without injured shooting ace Keith Eckhoff, had had five conference defeats, all by seven or less points.
UST junior Isaac Rosefelt had 14 points -- all in the first half -- and 15 rebounds. It was his 24th double double in 41 games with the Toms. Junior Bryan Schnettler scored seven of his 10 points in the second half and added four steals. Senior Joey Shimek chipped in seven points and five rebounds.
Sweeney, who finished one point off his season high, added five assists and three steals.
Schnettler, who made 14 3-pointers in two victories last week, made just two treys on the game. But he sank a clutch three with 1:26 to play after the Cobbers had pulled within 59-57.
The Toms trailed 16-11 but used a 10-0 run to erase the final Cobber lead. UST led 36-32 at halftime but the game was tied four times in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Senior Alex Weaver had six points and four assists off the bench. His 3-point basket with 11:29 to go broke the last tie.
UST has a bye Wednesday night and plays Saturday at Carleton to start the second round of MIAC play.
