Trinity (11-4, 4-1) trailed 37-39 at the half, but a strong shooting performance in the second period vaulted the Tigers past the Majors for the SCAC weekend sweep. Trinity remains tied atop the SCAC standings.
The Tigers went on a 7-1 run early in the second half to take a 58-51 lead, and then pulled ahead in the final minutes with a 9-0 run that gave Trinity its largest lead (13 points) with 1:06 remaining.
Andy Bates scored a game-high 21 points to lead Trinity, while Ross Burt and Brandon York each added 17. Bates also grabbed 11 rebounds and hit 3-4 three-point shots. York scored 17 on 5-7 field goals and 6-6 free throws in 21 minutes off the bench. Burt added two asists and four rebounds, hitting 6-11 shots.
James Lake chipped in with eight points to go with 11 boards, also handing out three assists. Mitch Walker led all players with six assists in the game.
Rodney Rogan led Millsaps with 19 points, while Edrick Montgomery added 15 on 5-8 shooting. Both players paced Millsaps with eight rebounds.
Trinity shot 62.5% in the second half to pull off the win, holding Millsaps to 41.2% shooting in the period. For the game, Trinity out-rebounded the Majors 40-32.
The Tigers will remain at home for next week's SCAC action, hosting Rhodes and Hendrix.
