Worcester, MA — Karen Krasko (North Branford, CT) paced a balanced WPI scoring attack with 10 points in a 58-38 victory over visiting MIT in NEWMAC women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon. Krasko’s effort highlighted a 36-point performance from the WPI reserve corps.

WPI sandwiched a 14-0 run around halftime to turn a 21-16 deficit into a 30-21 advantage early in the second stanza. Michelle Perry (Pelham, NH) and Emily Allietta (Sandwich, MA) combined for 15 points off the bench and starter Ashley Zalucky (Troy, NY) added 8 as WPI improved to 8-6 (2-1 NEWMAC) on the season. Meghan Pajonas (Southlake, TX) corralled a game-high nine rebounds to go along with four steals and a pair of assists.

MIT (3-7, 0-3 NEWMAC) was led by Karen Kinnaman (Woodstock, NY) who scored a game-high 11 points to go along with seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Cherelle Walls (Memphis, TN) chipped in with eight points and four boards for MIT, who forced 12 first half turnovers en route to a 21-20 lead at the break.

Both squads will return to action on Tuesday when WPI entertains Wellesley while MIT hosts Rhode Island College.
