UW-La Crosse 79, UW-Superior 62

La Crosse, Wis. — The UW-La Crosse men's basketball team improved to 13-3 overall and 4-3 in the WIAC with a 79-62 victory over UW-Superior Saturday night in Mitchell Hall. The Yellowjackets drop to 4-10 overall and 0-7 in the WIAC.

The Eagles never trailed in the game, leading by as many as 12 in the first half at 35-23 with 1:30 remaining. UW-Superior pulled within four points two different times early in the second half and trailed 52-46 with 11:09 left. UW-L then went on a 11-1 run to lead 63-47 with 7:31 remaining.

The Yellowjackets could get no closer than 14 the rest of the game.

Three starters scored in double figures for UW-L, led by Marcus Conigliaro with 19 points. He was eight-of-11 from the field, including three-of-five from three-point range. Joe Werner added 11 points for the Eagles and a team-high five assists. Chris Ask finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists.

UW-L shot 50.0% (30-of-60) from the field, including 46.2% (six-of-13) from three-point range. The Eagles were 13-of-16 (81.3%) at the free throw line.

Leonard Cobb led UW-Superior with 21 points, including 16 of the Yellowjackets' first 18 points in the second half. Cobb also had eight rebounds. Jason Proue added 16 points and six rebounds while Chris Hannula had 12.

UW-Superior shot 40.0% (22-of-55) from the field, including four-of-12 (33.3%) from three-point range. The Yellowjackets were 14-of-21 (66.7%) at the line.
