Drew’s defense stifled the Warriors in the first half as the Rangers built a 35-17 lead going into the break. The Rangers allowed only seven field goals in the opening period as they shut the Lycoming offense down. On the offensive side, Cunningham recorded 13 points on 6-9 shooting.
The Warriors rallied in the second half to tighten the match. After the Rangers opened a 27 point lead on a jumper from sophomore Pam Kakalec, the Warriors fought back to within 13 points on a jumper by Michelle Wisla. Cunningham ended the rally with a long three pointer to secure the game for the Rangers.
Maggie Marquis scored ten points and recorded four steals for the Rangers while Genie Valantassis had one of her best performances with nine points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals. First-year guard Kaitlyn Campi added seven points and a pair of assists.
The Rangers face rivals FDU-Florham at Baldwin at 6:00 on Tuesday.
