The Captains could not get a bucket to fall throughout the entire games as almost everything Carnegie Mellon threw up, dropped for the Tartan. 19 missed free throws didn't help the Captains cause either.
CMU led at halftime, 49-38. The Captains had a chance to cut the lead to single digits as Davon Barton went to the line with less than five seconds remaining in the half for a one-and-one. He missed the front end, got his own rebound and his put back rimmed as time expired.
Carnegie Mellon led by as many as 19 in the first half, 45-26, with 3:16 left on a three-pointer by Nate Maurer.
The Tartans finished the half 19-of-41 (46%) from the field, 7-of-15 (47%) on threes and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. CNU was 14-of-35 (40%) from the floor, 3-of-6 from behind the arc and 7-of-11 (64%) from the charity stripe.
