UT-Tyler dominated the first half carrying a 47-31 lead into halftime and seemed poised to pick up the blowout victory, but the Lady Choctaws battled back in the second half by shooting better than 70 percent in the final period.
The Patriots led by as many as 17 points in the second half but MC cut into the lead and trailed by just two points with 7:00 minutes remaining. The Patriots would never surrender the lead however and pulled away for the seven point margin.
Lacey Kennedy turned in a great performance in defeat finishing with 32 points. Kennedy was 12-15 from the field and 7-7 from the foul line. Freshman Emily Younger added a career high 15 points with Natalie Jordan collecting 14 points.
The Patriots were led by ASC East Division Preseason Player of the Year Sarah Stanley who scored 23 points. Four Patriots finished in double figures as Stanley was joined by Shamonica Shead (16), Ratonya Hunter (12) and Kasey Buggs.
