Danville, Va. — Andrew Boor scored 17 points on 7-9 shooting to lead Averett University (11-4, 2-0 USA South) to a 68-67 win over Greensboro College at the Grant Center on Saturday.

GC (4-9, 0-2) out-rebounded the Cougars 42-26 but struggled from the field. The Pride shot just 37 percent (23-63) to 49-percent (29-49) for the Cougars.

Michael McDuffie tallied a game-high 18 points for GC. James Newman scored 15 points; Steve Berg had 11 points and a game-high 7 assists for The Pride.

The Cougars led 31-26 at the break. The Pride trailed by as many as 15 points (59—4 with 7:52 left) in the second half but again rallied. GC cut the deficit to two points twice in the last 57 seconds.

AU’s Rafael DeLeon (13 points) then made a layup with 26 seconds left. Dominique Stevenson made two free throws with 12 seconds on the clock to keep The Pride at bay. McDuffie’s three-pointer at the buzzer put the final score at 68-67.

Sterling Williams had 16 points for AU.
