Despite a 40-24 halftime deficit and an Albion lead of 18 points late in the second half, Alma regrouped under the direction of head coach Ed Kohtala and came out with a vengeance in the second half, out-scoring Albion 47-34 in the final stanza. The Maroon and Cream generated 17 points off turnovers in the final 20 minutes while Albion got just two points off miscues in the same half.
Even with a glaring mis-match in the post with Albion's Brandon Crawford scoring 31 points, Alma won the paint battle, narrowly beating the Britons with a 25-24 advantage in that category.
The tale of two halves showed Alma with just a 31 percent field goal mark while they shot over 53 percent from the field in the second half. They nearly shot 60 percent from three point range in the second half after a dismal 20 percent mark in the first half.
Cory Massey led the team with 21 points and five assists while Mike Murphy had 19 points - five three-pointers and eight boards. Carl Hill had 14 points, including four treys.
Alma returns to action Jan. 18 when it hosts Tri-State at 7:30 p.m.
