Hamilton 77, RPI 65

CLINTON, N.Y. — Phil Valenti '06 made four three-pointers and finished with 15 points to lead Hamilton College to a 77-65 Liberty League win against Rensselaer at Scott Field House on Jan. 13.

Hamilton's leading scorer Tim Welchons '06 tossed in 14 points and Zarrette Rogers '07 made all four of his shots from the field en route to 10 points off the bench.

The Red Hawks' Tom Schneider '06 led all scorers with 20 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Matt Zepernick '06 chipped in 10 points.

Rogers led an impressive showing by the Continentals' bench. Hamilton's reserves scored 25 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and handed out nine assists. The Continentals (1-0 league, 9-1 overall) shot 51.9 percent (28-54) from the field.

Hamilton led 45-30 at the half. Rensselaer (0-1, 2-9) shot 39.3 percent (11-28) from the floor in the first half and has now lost three straight games. The Continentals have won 21 of their last 24 games against the Red Hawks, and now lead the all-time series, 38-34.
