Carroll dominated every facet of the game in the route that improves their overall record to 10-1, including a perfect 4-0 in the Midwest Conference. The Blueboys fall to 5-6 overall, 1-3 in league play.
“This was another good team effort. We moved the ball well and got a lot of good looks at the basket,” said head coach David Schultz, who earned his 49th victory as the Pioneer head coach in three-plus seasons. “Despite the score we continued to play good team ball and defensively were able to take some of their top players out of the game.”
The Pioneers shot 62.1% from the field for the game while holding IC to 39.6% shooting. In addition, Carroll forced 17 Blueboy turnovers while committing just six.
Junior Paul Toshner led five players in double-figures in scoring with 21 points on 9-of-9 shooting from the field. Senior Jason Scheper chipped in with 13 points while junior Nathan Drury added 12 points. Junior Buck Colomy and freshman Trevor Stratton added 11 points each. Senior point guard James Johnson dished out a game-high eight assists to go along with seven points and five rebounds.
“Toshner did a great job of finishing tonight,” said Schultz. “He was very active on both ends of the floor and played a near-perfect game.”
The Pioneers return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Monmouth College at 4:00 p.m.
