Trinity scored the first 11 points of the game, holding Clark scoreless for the first 4:13 of the game, and raced out to a 47-22 lead at the half. The Bantams shot 56.7 percent from the field and made 11 of their free throw tries while holding Clark to eight field goals in 34 attempts (23.5 percent) in the opening 20 minutes. Junior guard Kino Clarke (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 12 of his game-high 23 points and sophomore center Russ Martin (Longmeadow, Mass.) netted all 10 of his points off the bench in the first half. The Bantams also outrebounded the Cougars, 23-16, in the first stanza and, 45-32, in the game.
Five Bantams finished the game in double figures in scoring, as freshman swingmen Aaron Westbrooks (Dublin, Ireland) and Paul Rowe (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each added 13 points. Westbrooks also contributed eight boards and three assists, while Rowe had four rebounds, and four dishes, and Martin pulled down six boards. Junior forward Godfrey Duncan (Dorcester, Mass.) paced Clark with 14 points, including 12 in the second half, and five rebounds.
