Greenville shot well from the floor in the first half, posting a 68.0 field-goal percentage (17-of-25), a 70.0 three-point field-goal percentage (7-of-10) and a 75.0 free-throw percentage. Maryville, on the other hand, battled the entire half to tame the Panthers' offense, while only shooting 47.1 percent (16-of-34) from the field and 26.7 percent (4-of-15) from behind the arc.
The lead changed hands a total of 10 times in the first 20 minutes, with Greenville taking a one-point advantage heading into halftime. The Saints 10-of-12 (.833) shooting from the charity stripe kept them close, as head coach Matt Rogers poised his team for a huge run in the second half.
Maryville turned the tables in the second half and produced both a strong offensive and defensive effort. The Saints held Greenville to just 28.6 percent (6-of-21) shooting from the field and 28.6 percent (2-of-7) from three-point range. On the other end of the floor, Maryville's offense hit 17-of-23 (.739) from the field and 6-of-8 (.750) from long range, outscoring the Panthers 50-24 for the half.
Both Hebl's and Regan's point totals were career-highs. Hebl finished 10-of-15 (.667) from the floor, 5-of-9 (.556) from behind the arc and 5-of-6 (.833) from the charity stripe. He also added four assists, two rebounds and two steals. Regan was 7-of-10 (.700) from the field, 2-of-3 (.667) from three-point range and 10-of-12 (.833) from the charity stripe, while grabbing four rebounds, dishing out four assists and recording two steals.
Fellow senior Ryan Klein, who returned after a two-game hiatus, added 17 points on a perfect shooting performance on the night. He was 7-of-7 (1.000) from the field, 2-of-2 (1.000) from three-point range and 1-1 (1.000) from the foul line. He also added three steals and two blocked shots.
Leading the Saints on the boards were senior Stephen Bash and freshman Aaron Steinke with five rebounds a piece. Senior Tim Elwell dished out a game-high six assists, while also adding seven points, three rebounds and two steals.
Greenville had four players score in double figures. George Atchison and A.J. Turner led the way with 16 and 15 points respectively, while Darin Williams and Josh Reams scored 10 points each.
Rogers and his squad will return to SLIAC action on Saturday, when they travel across town to take on the Griffins of Fontbonne University in a 1:00 pm conference match up.
