Indianola, Iowa — Coe (9-2, 2-0 IIAC) defated Simpson (6-7, 2-2 IIAC) 68-53 in Iowa Conference men's basketball action Jan. 10 in Indianola. With the score tied at four at the 17:44 of the opening frame, the Kohawks went on a 17-1 run to seize control of the game. Coe had four different players hit three-point field goal attempts during the 5:13 stretch that was halted by a Ryan Hittenmiller layup with a little over 12 minutes to go in the first half. The Storm battled, cutting the lead to 35-26 heading into halftime when Adam Thorson connected on a three. The Storm got the lead down to 10 three different times early on in the second half, but Coe used a 9-0 spurt to put lead up to 19. Simpson again tried to fight back, but the Storm could only get as close as 11 later in the half as the Kohawks posted the victory.

Cory Deshaw led all scorers with 16 points (3-for-4 three-pointers). He also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds and had a team high four assists. Mike Kilburg scored 11 while Aaron Breitbarth had 10. Simpson was led by Scott Ellens who shot 7-for-10 from the field to tally 14 points. Ryan Hittenmiller scored 13 points and posted six rebounds.
