With the win, the Blazers improved to 5-4 overall, 4-0 NAC and are off to their best start in conference since the 2001-02 season.
Becker College, which was playing its first game since December 10, lost its third consecutive game to fall to 3-6 overall, 0-3 NAC.
The Blazers led 55-51 with 8:41 remaining before closing out the game with an 18-6 run and limited the visiting Hawks to just one field goal in 6:15 during that stretch.
Sophomore guard Raemarie Josefiak (Springfield, MA) netted a season-high 14 points and a game-high four assists, and freshman forward Paige Schneider (Windsor, CT) added 11 points to also reach double figures for the Blazers in the victory.
Sophomore guard Brittany Evans (Danielson, CT) led all scorers with 21 points on 10 of 18 shooting and also pulled down nine rebounds for the Hawks, who trailed 38-32 at intermission.
Becker freshman forward Elizabeth Pion (Enfield, CT), who came into the game as the NAC’s second leading scorer, was limited to 11 points – seven below her season average. Freshman guard Rachel Pinak (Buffalo, NY) also scored 11 points for the Hawks.
Elms College returns to NAC play when it hosts Mount Ida College on Wednesday, January 11. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
