Southwestern led by 12 at halftime (52-40) and extended the lead to 15 at 66-51 at 14:20 before Sewanee rallied.
The hosts Tigers went on a 19-4 run to tie the game at 70-70 at 7:25. Garcia scored five and Campbell and Rowland four in the rally.
Southwestern's Dan Slezak had two free throws to give the Pirates the lead at 72-70 and the visitors were never headed down the stretch. Southwestern outscored Sewanee, 25-8 in the final 7:08.
First College Points: Sewanee's Mike Forster hit his first three shots - including a banked 3-pointer - as a collegian for seven points in the first half. He was 4 of 5 on the afternoon from the field with two rebounds and nine points in 14 minutes.
He had played six minutes (0 points) in Friday's game with Trinity.
Forster prepped at nearby St.Andrews-Sewanee and redshirted last season at Lipscomb University in Nashville before transferring at the semester break.
Forster was an honorable mention all-state player at SAS in 2004 and averaged 21.9 ppg as a senior.
