Waynesburg 91, Penn State-Fayette 83

WAYNESBURG, Pa. — Junior guard Beau Wilson scored a game-high 27 points, as the Yellow Jackets snapped their two-game losing streak on Saturday with a 91-83 over PSU-Fayette in non-conference action. With the win, Waynesburg improves to 6-5 on the season, while the Roaring Lions of Fayette drop to 4-8 on the season despite 20 points from reserve Chris Jacobs.

Wilson made 7-of-14 attempts from the field, including 3 of 8 from beyond the arc. The three-year starter connected on 10-of-12 free throw attempts after entering the contest ranked third in the PAC with .838 free-throw percentage. The 20-plus point game for Wilson is the 11th of his career and fourth this season.

Fellow junior guard Marc Lodovico scored a season-high 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting. The junior added four rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists as the Yellow Jackets posted a victory in their first-ever meeting against the Roaring Lions.

Both teams shot above 45 percent in the contest with Waynesburg deciding the game from the charity stripe. The Yellow Jackets made 27-of-36 attempts (75 percent) from the line, including 10 from Wilson. Meanwhile, the Roaring Lines made just 42 percent (8-of-19) of their free-throw attempts.

Joining Lodovico and Wilson in double figures were reserves Jeff Linden and Shawn Coleman, while starting forward Ryan Bujnowski registered 12 points and eight rebounds in the win.

The Yellow Jackets return to conference action on Wednesday, Jan. 11, when they travel to face reigning PAC champion Bethany at 6 p.m. The Bison have won the last five meetings against Waynesburg, dating back to the 2002-03 season.
