The Fighting Scots (12-1) had five players score in double figures led by Evan Will’s 8-for-8, 20-point performance.
Wooster assumed an early 13-7 lead in the first five minutes and extended its advantage to 31-19 with 8:22 left in the half after nine consecutive points by Will. Wooster extended its advantage to as many as 23 points (48-25) before settling for a 50-32 lead after 20 minutes.
The Presidents fought back to trail by only five points (52-47) at the 15:41 mark following a 15-2 run to begin the second half. Freshman center Josip Lucic-Jozak (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) scored three baskets during the rally.
The Fighting Scots then scored 35 of the next 44 points over the next nine minutes to reclaim control of the game. Cooper drilled three triples during the stretch.
Cooper made 7-of-14 shots and added three assists and three steals. Tom Port added 12 points and five rebounds and was also named to the All-Tournament Team. Wooster shot 49 percent (36-of-73) and nailed 13 trifectas.
W&J junior guard Jon Koch (New Kensington, Pa./Plum) led the Presidents (3-11) with 19 points. He was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 23.0 points per game during the tournament. Lucic-Jozak posted his third double-double of the week with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while junior forward Matt Vorndran (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) finished with 11 points and seven boards.
The Presidents shot 42 percent (28-of-67), but committed 21 turnovers.
Washington & Jefferson returns to conference play on Wednesday with a trip to Crestview Hills, Ky., to battle Thomas More at 7:30 pm.
