The Alfred University men’s basketball team fell to Utica College 74-63 Saturday afternoon.
The Saxons (7-7, 1-1 Empire 8) were down by 13 points at halftime and were able to tie the game, 45-45, five minutes into the second half. Utica College out-rebounded the Saxons 37-26.
The Saxons were led by senior guard Quentin Bryant who finished the game with 22 points and two steals. Senior guard Ryan Hallet and junior guard Rob McCarter each chipped in 12 points respectively. Junior forward Dillon Stein netted 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Utica College shot 53 percent from the floor while the Saxons shot 40 percent. Leading Utica was Ray Bryant with a game high 26 points and 12 rebounds. Willie Lucas netted 15 points while Doug Herring chipped in 12 points.
