Old Westbury pulled out to a 10-point lead with 15:32 remaining in the game. NC Wesleyan hit four threes during a 12-2 run and tied the game three minutes later.
With 4:06 to go, the Panthers used a 6-0 mini-run to give themselves another 10-point cushion. Jamel Arrington kept NC Wesleyan alive hitting two three-pointers, but the Panthers kept the game just out of reach and took their largest lead, a 12-point edge with just over one minute to play.
In the first half, the two teams played a tight game in the early minutes, until Old Westbury built a nine-point lead on a three-pointer by Ramel Phillips with 10:58 remaining. NC Wesleyan answered with a 14-4 run over the next four minutes, tying the game at 22.
After the Panthers went back up by four, NC Wesleyan bounced back again, tying the game at 26 with 3:21 to go, and Tommy Moore followed with a lay-in that game the Bishops a two-point lead. Old Westbury answered with back-to-back threes by Michael Garrett and Jared Weir.
The Panthers closed out the first half up by five.
Phillips was named to the All-Tournament team after leading Old Westbury with 24 points, on 10-of-19 shooting. Garrett finished with 16 and Derek DeLoney added eight points and nine rebounds. NC Wesleyan’s Arrington finished with seven three-pointers and led all scorers with 25 points.
