New Jersey City 68, Shenandoah 62

WASHINGTON, Pa. - — The Shenandoah University women's basketball team once again held a second half lead, but saw its opponent steal a close victory Saturday afternoon.


This time it was New Jersey City University, as NJCU advanced to the championship game of the Washington & Jefferson Presidents Classic with a 68-62 win over the Hornets.


With the score 57-56 in favor of Shenandoah (2-6) following a http://www.su.edu/athletics/wb/players.cfm?rid=821"> color="#CC0000" size="1"> Stephanie Herrold free throw at the 4:51 mark, the Gothic Knights scored the next seven points of the game in the next 3:39 to take a 63-57 lead with 1:12 remaining.
Harrold answered with a pair of layups sandwiched around a free throw to bring SU to within two at 64-62 with 31 seconds remaining, but they could get no closer.


NJ City (5-5) sealed the win by making four of its final six foul shots, including Latrese McNair's 3 of 4 on her club's two consecutive possessions following Harrold's final layup.


Harrold led all Hornets scorers with a career-high 16 points while sophomore http://www.su.edu/athletics/wb/players.cfm?rid=639"> color="#CC0000" size="1"> Netagia Foreman had 14 points and junior http://www.su.edu/athletics/wb/players.cfm?rid=365"> color="#CC0000" size="1"> Cassie Womack 16 rebounds.


McNair had a game-high 19 points along with 12 steals for the Gothic Knights, who had three others score in double figures.

Shenandoah will play against the loser of the Trinity (D.C.)/Washington & Jefferson game tomorrow in the 1:00 consolation contest.
