The Eagles took a 5-4 lead with 18:07 remaining in the first period before Rommel Colina’s layup with 17:55 put the Indians back up 6-5, and they never trailed again. McMurry shot 51.3 percent from the field and hit 10 3-pointers on its way to a second-straight win and a fifth-straight win this season at Kimbrell.
Williams dished out seven assists to accompany his 17 points and Bryant was hot from the outside, hitting 4 of 9 3-point attempts. Colina had 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists for the Indians while Terence Mirabal and Curtis Jones joined in double figures with 11 and 10 respectively.
Adam Aguilar was the only McMurry player that didn’t score in the contest. Starters Dustin Faught and Finlay Brashears also played well as Faught scored eight points grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. Brashears chipped in with nine points and six boards.
Scott McCall led the Eagles in scoring with 14 points, but all his points came in the first half as the Indians were able to shut him down in the second half after he hit four shots from behind the arc before intermission.
The closest the University of the Ozarks got in the second half was 11 on a Josh Joyner layup with 19:11 left in regulation. However, a 19-7 McMurry run that ended with 6:43 left when Ted Bear hit a 3-pointer proved too much for the Eagles, as they were unable to claw back into the game.
Habeeb Kareem added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Ozarks while Beard and Jacob Sibley added 11 apiece.
The Indians move their record to 8-4 with the win dropping the Eagles at an even 6-6. McMurry will finish out the season with 13 American Southwest Conference West Division games starting Thursday in Brownwood with a game against Howard Payne at 7:30 p.m.
