Haverford 73, McDaniel 63

WESTMINSTER, Md. — Haverford’s Johnny Elefterakis’ (Brooklyn, NY / Poly Prep) dropped in a lay-up 1:43 into the game to give Haverford a 2-0 lead over its hosts, McDaniel College. McDaniel played catch up the rest of the way, dropping its first home contest of the season, a 73-63 loss at the hands of the Fords.

Haverford led from wire-to-wire, but never took a commanding lead in the Centennial Conference match-up. The Fords held a 10-point edge for less than two total minutes. McDaniel never cut it closer than three.

Elefterakis was a thorn in McDaniel’s side throughout the contest. The senior posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go along with a 4 assists and a pair of steals. David Nowacki (Havertown, PA / Haverford) gave Haverford a game-high 24 points, hauled in 9 rebounds, and recorded 4 steals.

Poor shooting plagued McDaniel throughout the contest. The Terror hit on just 28.8 percent of its shots in the game, and only clicked on 5-of-27 (18.5%) field goals in the first half.

Josh McKay’s (Baltimore, MD / Eastern Tech) 14 points led McDaniel on offense. Will Talesnick (Rockville, MD / Magruder) and Mike Dipiero (Huntingdon Valley, PA / Lower Moreland) each added 10 points to the effort with Dipiero adding 5 assists before fouling out.

With the loss, McDaniel falls to 4-8 (2-3 CC), while Haverford improves to 4-6 (3-2 CC). The Terror returns to action on Tuesday at Swarthmore.
