Lawrence 83, Ripon 75

APPLETON, Wis. — Keven Bradley scored a career-high 33 points, including the final 20 points of the game, to lead the seventh-ranked Lawrence University men's basketball team to an 83-75 Midwest Conference win over rival Ripon College on Saturday.

In front of a standing-room only crowd at Alexander Gymnasium, Bradley put on a shooting show. He hit 8 of 8 shots from the floor, including 5 of 5 from 3-point range. He also hit 12 of 15 shots from the free-throw line.

All-America forward Chris Braier added 23 points and nine rebounds for Lawrence, which improved to 9-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. Freshman guard Ryan Kroeger added 10 points for the Vikings.

Brian Schmitting paced Ripon (2-7, 1-2) with 20 points. Paul Wise added 17 and Bo Johnson had 10.

Bradley, whose previous career-best was 19 points at Wisconsin Lutheran earlier this season, started his scoring binge on a layup with 7:52 left to put Lawrence up 65-56.

The Vikings had led by as many as 11 points in the second half, but Ripon kept chipping away. The Red Hawks trimmed the lead to 71-69 on Johnson's two free throws with 3:04 left, but Bradley answered with a 3-pointer.

Wise was then slapped with an offensive foul and picked up a technical when he bumped referee Dick Bestor. Bradley hit both free throws to put the Vikings up 76-69 with 2:35 left.

Wise then converted on a three-point play, but Bradley sealed the win when he nailed a 3-pointer from in front of the Lawrence bench with 50 seconds remaining. He was fouled on the play and tacked on the free throw to give Lawrnece an 80-72 lead.

Bradley then hit 3 of 4 free throws in the final 29 seconds to ice the win.

Lawrence returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Beloit.
