Connecticut College 74, RPI 63

NEW LONDON, Conn. — Sophomore Jeff Young (E. Hartford, Conn.) dumped in game-high 16 points, leading Connecticut College (8-3) to a 74-63 victory over RPI (2-8) at Luce Fieldhouse Saturday night. Billy Karis (Potsdam, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points for the Camels. Gabe Patton (Lynnfield, Mass) tallied 11 points and Christian Mosley (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished with 10 points for the hosts, who shot 47% (15-for-32) from three-point distance in the victory.

Junior Michael Visker (Essex, Vt.) finished with nine points for RPI. Senior forward Tom Schneider (Nashua, N.H.) contributed eight points and six rebounds for the Red Hawks.

The Camels built a 7-2 lead early but the visitors pulled ahead and built a 19-10 lead on a three-pointer from Michael Visker with 12:01 to go. The Camels were able to break down the Red Hawks on the perimeter, finding open looks on the wings. CC reeled off a 19-to-2 run over the final 8:18 off the half to open up a comfortable 39-23 lead at the break. Gabe Patton canned a triple with 19 seconds left before the intermission to cap the rally.

The Camels kept the pressure on in the second half and took a 62-38 lead with 8:09 remaining on a three from Christian Mosley. RPI cut the lead to 12, 69-57, after Devin Galvin (Newburyport, Mass.) connected on a three pointer with 1:11 to play. But Camel junior Jahkeen Washington (New York, N.Y.) made five free throws in the last minute to protect the lead and preserve the 74-63 victory. Washington dished out a game-high seven assists in the game.
