The Tigers led by as many as 15 points early in the second half, but the Eagles responded and made several runs in the second half.
The Tigers led by 11 points, 53-42, with 8:56 left in the game, but Bridgewater’s Josh Maupin knocked down a 3-pointer from the top of the key and a 15-footer along the baseline to pull BC within six points, 53-47, with 7:29 left.
Hampden-Sydney turned back the Bridgewater threat, as the Eagles had no answer down low for the Tigers Troy Kasse. Kaase scored the next eight points for the Tigers as they pushed the lead back to double figures, 61-51.
Kaase, the ODAC’s leading scorer, led the Tigers with 28 points and seven rebounds. The Tigers’ forward scored 20 points in the second half. Drew Prehmus also reached double figures for the Tigers with 12 points.
Clay Michael led the Eagles with 12 points and five rebounds. Josh Fox added 10 points and five boards and Maupin finished with 10 points.
The Tigers, ranked No. 15 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, remained undefeated at 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the ODAC. Bridgewater dropped to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
