Cortland State 72, RPI 55

TROY, N.Y. — SUNY Cortland got double digit scoring from four players and the Red Dragons shot 48.4% from the floor in posting a 72-55 win over the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team in a non-league game at Robison Gym. With the win SUNY Cortland improves to 9-1 while RPI falls to 2-7.

The Red Dragons were led by junior guard Rod Headley (Peekskill, NY/Peekskill), who scored 17 points, grabbed four rebounds (3 offensive) and had two assists. Junior Dave Jutton (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) added 16 points on 4-of-7 shooting, while junior Dave Maggiacomo (Pleasant Valley, NY/Arlington), who was 4-of-8 from three-point range, scored 12 point. Senior Frank Ranieri (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) added 11 points.

Rensselaer was paced by senior forward Tom Schneider (Nashua, NH/Bishop Guertin), who scored 15 points with eight rebounds (2 offensive) and two assists in 29 minutes. Senior guard Paul Halas (Sea Grit, NJ/St. Rose) added 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting with six rebounds (5 offensive).

Rensselaer returns to action on Saturday at Connecticut College (7pm) while SUNY Cortland visits Oneonta St. on Tuesday evening (8pm).
