The first half saw five ties and seven lead changes as the Lady Builders (8-5) went on a 14-2 run over a 4:29 span to take a 34-23 lead on a Dayna Twyne jumper with 1:21 left in the half.
In the second half saw Apprentice School score the first five points to take a 39-27 advantage on a free throw from Lewter with 17:03 left. The Fighting Squirrels went on a 12-4 run to cut that down to four on a free throw from Jennifer Dobson with 14:08 for a 43-39 Apprentice School advantage. From there the lead quickly shot back up to 11 after a pair of layups from Lewter and Natasha Jones for a 51-40 advantage with 11:22 left. Apprentice School never had less than a seven points lead from there.
The Lady Builders now travel to Greensboro, NC to take on the Pride of Greensboro College on Saturday at 2 p.m. This is a rematch of a December game in Newport News that Apprentice School won 76-65.
