ITHACA, N.Y. — Senior guard Jim Bellis (Bloomfield Central/East Bloomfield) scored 22 points to lead the Bombers past visiting Rochester Institute of Technology 69-53 in the Empire 8 opener for both teams. The win was Ithaca's first over the Tigers since 2002.

Ithaca won its third straight game -- all at home -- pulling away from the visiting Tigers with a 22-11 spurt over the final 14 minutes. Senior forward Brian Andruskiewicz (Montville/Oakdale, Conn.) added 12 points and senior guard Jonathan Whetstone (Palo Alto/Palo Alto, Calif.) contributed nine points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals (matching a career high). Junior guard Brad Clemente (Immaculata/Warren, N.J.) paced the Bombers with a career-best seven rebounds.


Junior center Tim Bacon (Massena/Massena) led RIT with 19 points and senior forward Fran Snyder (Bishop Timon St. Jude/Buffalo) added 16.
