HSU improved to 5-6 on the year and more importantly 4-4 in the ASC. Ozarks fell to 6-5 overall and 6-2 in league play. Hsu snapped a four-game losing streak with the win. HSU has won 10 of its last 11 games at the Mabee Complex.
The Cowboys overcame foul trouble to its starting point guard and center and pulled away down the stretch after leading by as many as 11 in the first half. Mardochee Jean fought through the foul problems to record eight points, 10 rebounds and six blocks. Zach Pickelman added 11 for the Cowboys.
Josh Joyner led Ozarks with 16 points. Leading scorer Habeeb Kareem did not play the first half and finished with seven points.
HSU returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Austin College.
