New Paltz took a 23-22 halftime lead, but the Bearcats started the second half with a 18-6 run in the next 12 minutes to lead 40-29.
Defense played a big factor in the run as the Bearcats limited the Hawks to 2-of-22 shooting during that 12-minute stretch.
Baruch shot 13-of-26 in the second half, and dominated the boards the entire game with a 57-34 margin.
Cheick Fadika (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Petit) led the way with his second consecutive double-double of 17 points, 12 rebounds, and two block shots. Anwar Baptiste also recorded a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds, while Louie Karis (Brooklyn, NY/Xaverian) added 13 points.
Sophomore center Phil Schatz (Middle Village, NY/Archbishop Molloy) grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in nine minutes of solid action off the bench.
Matt Irwin (Brooklyn, NY/Sr. Edmund Prep) led New Paltz with 12 points and three steals. New Paltz finished the game shooting 24 percent (14-59).
The non-conference victory improved the Bearcats to 11-3 overall on the regular season.
The men's team will return to action this Friday with a conference home game against Lehman College. Tip off in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
