NC Wesleyan took an early lead in the game, and led by as many as ten, 31-21, with 6:36 remaining in the first half. But UMW went on a 15-4 run to take a two-point lead at 37-35, and led 43-38 at the break. Pierce, who scored 15 points in the first half, scored twenty more in the second frame, shooting 12-18 from the field, including 7-11 on three-point attempts. All five Eagle starters reached double figures, with Lee adding twenty points, junior guard AJ Fitzgerald scoring 16, sophomore forward Justin Baker adding 13, and freshman center Kiernan Whitworth adding twelve.
NC Wesleyan was led by freshman Jarmel Arrington, who scored 39 points on 13-20 shooting, including 11-18 three-pointers.
The Eagles shot 61.5% from the floor for the game (32-52), including 16-30 three point attempts. UMW will play against Buffalo State College on Friday at the Albright College Holiday Tournament at 6 pm.
