BALTIMORE, Md. — Four Johns Hopkins (8-2) players scored in double figures to propel the Blue Jays to their fourth straight Blue Jay Invitational title with a 97-88 win over Buffalo State (7-3) at Goldfarb Gym on Wednesday.

Hopkins was led by junior Danny Nawrocki with a 27-point effort, good for a season high. Nawrocki was named tournament MVP for the second consecutive year, posting 39 points in the two games.

Junior T.J. Valerio eclipsed the 20-point plateau for the second time this season, scoring 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-6 from behind the three-point arc.

The Blue Jays also got a career-high 19 points and three blocks from senior Bobby Sharafeddin, who connected on 6-of-6 tries from the field in the first half.

After holding a 46-34 lead at the break, the Blue Jays built an advantage of as much as 20 points, with a 77-57 lead at the 7:38 mark of the second half. In the final two minutes of the game, the Bengals trimmed the margin to seven points at 91-84, but the Blue Jays held on with six free throws down the stretch, including four from Valerio, who finished the afternoon shooting 6-of-6 from the stripe.

Hopkins shot 55.7 percent (34-for-61) from the floor and 70 percent (7-of-10) from behind the arc.

For Buffalo State, Gregg Jones led the way with 23 points. James Williams had 21 points, while Carlton Guiden and Jobany Tirado also reached double figures, scoring 19 and 11, respectively. Williams and Guiden represented the Bengals on the all-tournament team.
